01
Overview
Metricool launched Flows on September 1, 2026 to bring social-media automation into the same workspace people already use for planning, publishing, analytics and inbox management. The product is designed around a simple idea: when someone comments, sends a DM or replies to a Story, that interaction can trigger an automated response instead of waiting for a social-media manager to answer manually.
For creators, agencies and brands, the most important use case is Instagram comment-to-DM automation. A post can ask people to comment a keyword such as GUIDE or LINK, and Flows can move that interaction into a private conversation, deliver a follow-up resource after the required response step and track how the automation performs.
02
What is Metricool Flows?
Flows is Metricool's built-in social automation system. It uses network-specific triggers and actions to automate repetitive interactions on Instagram and TikTok, while Metricool's current product page also documents automatic reposting on X.
On Instagram, current first-party documentation covers three main templates: turning comments into DMs, replying to DMs that contain keywords, and turning Story replies into DMs. On TikTok, Flows can moderate comments, reply to keyword comments and answer DMs. On X, the current product page describes scheduled automatic reposting, including optional delays and automatic deletion later.
This is not a generic browser bot. Metricool says Flows works through the supported platform connections and rules of each network.
03
When did Metricool Flows launch?
Metricool announced Flows for September 1, 2026. The launch release described Instagram as the first major sales-automation surface, TikTok support as part of the product, and X support as coming in the following weeks.
The current Flows product page now lists X automatic reposting as an available workflow, so that newer first-party page is the better source for the current state of the product.
04
How Instagram comment-to-DM automation works
A typical campaign starts with a post or Reel that asks viewers to comment a word. Flows watches for the selected trigger and can publish a reply, send a private message, or both depending on the template and setup.
For the comment-to-DM workflow, Metricool's current Instagram documentation includes an optional first private message designed to get a reaction or reply before the link is sent. That response acts as a double opt-in and opens Meta's 24-hour messaging window for additional content and links.
Metricool updated this behavior on September 9, 2026: reacting with the expected emoji now counts as a valid response and advances the Flow. Automations that were already active before that change may need to be reactivated or recreated to use reactions as the response step.
A separate supporting guide covers the exact setup flow, prerequisites and current reaction behavior in depth.
05
Instagram automation templates
Metricool currently documents three Instagram Flows.
Turn comments into DMs. Trigger an automated private conversation when somebody comments on a selected post or uses a chosen keyword. This is useful for lead magnets, catalogs, coupons, signup links and product campaigns.
Reply to DMs with keywords. Automatically answer inbound DMs containing words or phrases such as PRICE, GUIDE, BOOKING or INFO. The response can include text and, where the template permits it, buttons or links.
Turn Story replies into DMs. Trigger a response from a text or emoji reply to a Story. Metricool says this does not trigger from Story likes or Close Friends replies.
Metricool lets a Flow rotate up to three reply variants, reducing the repetitive copy-and-paste feel of a single fixed response.
06
What does Flows do on TikTok?
The current Metricool guide documents TikTok Business account workflows for comment moderation, automatic keyword replies and DM-to-DM responses.
A moderation Flow can hide comments containing selected banned words or phrases. A comment-reply Flow can respond when a user writes a chosen keyword. TikTok DM automation can also send an automatic response when somebody messages the account.
These are useful functions, but the strongest search opportunity for ProjectMonet.space is currently Instagram because the comment-to-DM funnel has clearer lead-generation and creator-marketing intent.
07
What does Flows do on X?
Metricool's live Flows product page now includes automatic reposting on X. Users can choose a delay between the original post and the repost and can optionally have the repost delete itself later.
That capability should be distinguished from the September 1 launch release, which still described X as coming in the following weeks. The current product page indicates the rollout has since progressed.
08
Can you measure Metricool Flows?
Yes. Metricool's launch materials describe Flow-level statistics such as sends, interactions and click-through rate, and its current guides tell users to review the metrics associated with each automation.
The useful metric depends on the campaign. A lead-magnet Flow should be judged by resource downloads or qualified replies, while a product Flow should be evaluated by traffic, conversations or purchases rather than simply counting how many automated messages were sent.
09
Metricool Flows pricing and plan access
The pricing story changed quickly after launch, so current and launch-era wording should not be mixed together.
Metricool's September 1 announcement said Flows would be free for an initial period and later become a paid add-on within Starter and Advanced. The current Flows product page says Flows comes with the paid Starter, Advanced and Custom plans. A current help article also says Flows is unavailable on the Free plan and Starter Mobile 5, while still referencing a limited-time free period for eligible paid plans.
Because these first-party pages reflect a transition in packaging, there is no basis to invent a standalone Flows add-on price. Anyone choosing a plan should check Metricool's live account and pricing pages for the current entitlement before purchasing specifically for Flows.
10
What do you need to use Flows on Instagram?
Metricool says Instagram Flows require a professional Instagram account connected to Metricool and the Edit Flows user permission. The comment-to-DM template additionally requires a Facebook Page linked to the Instagram account.
TikTok Flows require a TikTok Business account and the relevant Flows permission.
These prerequisites matter for troubleshooting: a missing Flows option or unavailable comment-to-DM template can be caused by plan access, account type, permissions or an incomplete Facebook/Instagram connection rather than a product outage.
11
Who should use Metricool Flows?
Flows is most relevant to creators, social-media managers, agencies, ecommerce brands and service businesses that already earn meaningful inbound interaction from social posts.
It is especially useful when the first response is repetitive: sending a guide, a catalog, a booking link, product information or a standard answer after a keyword comment. Automation reduces response delay while leaving human teams available for the parts of the conversation that require judgment.
It is less compelling for accounts with little inbound engagement or workflows that require complex branching beyond the templates Metricool currently exposes.
12
Important limitations
Flows depends on the APIs, permissions and messaging rules of each supported network. Instagram comment-to-DM needs the correct professional-account and Facebook Page setup. Meta's 24-hour window still governs follow-up messaging after the required response. Story likes and Close Friends replies do not trigger the documented Story workflow.
Plan packaging is also changing. Metricool's launch release, product page and help center currently use slightly different wording about the limited free period and eventual paid access, so plan claims should be rechecked before publication.

Is Metricool Flows free?
