Overview
Claude Docs and Claude Slides let you turn a Claude conversation into an editable document or presentation without first moving the generated content into another app. Both tools launched in beta on September 16, 2026 as part of Anthropic’s broader One Claude interface rollout.
This guide focuses on the workflow confirmed by launch material rather than inventing button names or menus that may change during the staged beta.
02
Before you start
Anthropic is rolling the new experience out first to Pro and Max subscribers on web, desktop and mobile over the coming weeks. Team and Free access is expected later. If Docs or Slides does not appear for your account yet, staged rollout is a more plausible explanation than assuming a configuration error.
There is no separate activation step confirmed in the launch reporting. Anthropic’s stated direction is that Claude should determine what capabilities a task needs from a normal conversation.
03
Create a document with Claude Docs
Start a Claude conversation and describe the document you want. Useful instructions include the intended audience, purpose, structure, length, source material and output constraints.
For example, instead of asking only for a report, specify that you want an editable client report with an executive summary, evidence section, recommendations and a concise conclusion. Claude can use the conversation context and connected material available to it to shape the result.
The important product change is that the result can live as an editable document rather than only as chat text.
04
Revise the document
You can ask Claude to change the document through follow-up instructions. This makes iterative requests such as shortening a section, changing the structure, rewriting for another audience or incorporating new material part of the same workflow.
Launch reporting also says users can make manual edits. Treat Claude as a collaborator rather than assuming every revision must be regenerated by the model.
06
Export a Claude Doc
Launch reporting describes document export into Google Docs and Microsoft Word workflows. Export behavior may evolve during beta, so verify the currently offered formats in your account before designing an automated process around them.
For important business documents, inspect formatting after export. A successful content export does not guarantee that complex layouts, tables or custom styling will render identically in another editor.
07
Create a presentation with Claude Slides
Start from a conversation and ask Claude for a presentation. Give it the intended audience, objective, number or approximate depth of slides, narrative structure and any evidence that must be included.
A useful presentation prompt should describe the story the deck needs to tell, not merely request a number of slides. Ask for a clear opening, logical progression and a specific final action or conclusion.
Claude can generate the presentation inside the conversation, after which you can continue iterating on it.
08
Edit Claude Slides
Ask Claude to revise specific slides, restructure the deck or change the emphasis. Launch reporting also says users can edit generated presentations manually.
Claude Design is becoming available from the same unified interface, but do not assume that every Design capability is identical to a Slides feature. They are related creation surfaces inside Claude, not interchangeable product names.
09
Export Claude Slides
Launch reporting confirms PowerPoint and PDF downloads for Claude Slides. PowerPoint is useful when a deck needs further editing in a traditional presentation application; PDF is better suited to fixed-layout distribution.
Review exported presentations before client or public use. AI-generated decks can still contain factual errors, weak hierarchy, inconsistent visual decisions or layouts that need human adjustment.
10
Use Claude’s unified interface for larger tasks
The One Claude change matters when the document or deck is part of a larger workflow. Cowork capabilities are being folded into the main Claude experience, while Artifacts and Design can also surface from conversations. Anthropic’s goal is to let the user describe the task rather than select the internal tool first.
That creates workflows such as researching material, analyzing files, drafting a report and turning findings into a presentation from one starting conversation. The exact tools Claude invokes can depend on the task and the capabilities available to the account.
11
What if Claude Docs or Slides is not showing?
First check whether the rollout has reached your account and plan. The September 16 announcement begins with Pro and Max over the following weeks, not every user simultaneously. Team and Free access is scheduled later without a precise universal date in the launch sources reviewed here.
Avoid following unofficial instructions that claim to unlock the feature through hidden settings unless Anthropic documents them. During a staged beta, availability can be server-side.
12
Limits to keep in mind
No universal Docs/Slides usage quota, standalone price, final beta end date or exact Team/Free rollout date was verified in the launch material reviewed for this guide. Do not assume unlimited generation or identical limits across plans.
The products also do not remove the need to verify factual claims, citations, confidential-data handling and exported formatting before using generated work professionally.
13
Practical workflow
For a business report or deck, a strong sequence is: give Claude the source material and objective; ask it to identify the structure before generating; create the Doc or Slides output; review factual claims; revise the narrative; make manual edits where needed; then export only after the content is approved.
That approach uses Claude for synthesis and iteration without treating generation as the final quality-control step.
14
Bottom line
Claude Docs and Slides are designed to move Claude from answering questions to producing editable business artifacts inside the same workflow. Start from a normal conversation, describe the deliverable precisely, iterate with Claude and manual edits, then use the available sharing and export options. Because the launch is a staged beta, recheck current plan eligibility, limits and export behavior before building a repeatable production workflow around it.
