Resolution
Omni Flash outputs 360p, 720p, 1080p and 4K, but Google's documentation says its 1080p and 4K are upscaled. Veo 3.1 documentation says Veo can directly generate 720p, 1080p and 4K, although Veo 3.1 Lite does not support 4K. This distinction matters when native output resolution is more important than fast iteration.

Omni Flash's standout capability is stateful conversational editing via previous interaction IDs. It also exposes task modes for editing and extension. Veo has its own video-generation controls and extension workflow, but Omni's product design is more explicitly centered on a conversational edit loop.

Omni's model card accepts text, image and video input, including video context for editing/extension. Current Veo 3.1 preview model cards list text and image input with video output. That makes Omni especially relevant when existing video needs to remain part of the model's editing context.

Recheck the official pricing page before publication. Gemini Omni Flash's paid tier lists $1.50 per million input tokens, $9 per million text-output tokens and $17.50 per million video-output tokens. Google equates 720p output to approximately $0.10 per second at its documented token rate. Unlike Veo's per-second table, Omni is billed from token consumption, so compare actual workflow cost rather than treating the two pricing units as identical.

Which should you use?
Use Omni Flash for rapid iteration, conversational edits, existing-video context, frame interpolation and workflows that benefit from a single interaction history. Use Veo 3.1 when you specifically need the dedicated cinematic-generation family, native higher-resolution options or Veo's production-oriented controls. For many teams, the practical answer may be workflow-dependent rather than choosing one model permanently.

Avoid a false winner
Google is evolving both families quickly. A benchmark-style 'winner' claim would be weak without controlled testing on the same prompts, seeds, durations and evaluation criteria. Treat feature/API differences as verified; treat subjective quality comparisons as something that requires testing.
